One of the nation’s leading health and well-being companies, Humana, has announced an agreement to fully acquire Kindred at Home.

Under the agreement, Humana will acquire the remaining 60% of the nation’s largest home health and hospice provider. Humana purchased its original 40% ownership stake in 2018 and since then has collaborated closely with Kindred at Home on a range of innovations that have helped deliver personalized and more comprehensive whole-person care.

Humana has long believed in the importance of care that meets people where they prefer to be, in the more comfortable, accessible and efficient setting of their home. Creating an advanced home health model at scale can have a meaningful and positive impact on health outcomes, improve the patient experience and satisfaction, all while reducing costs and delivering value to health plan partners.

The transaction, which is subject to customary state and federal regulatory approvals as well as other customary closing conditions, is expected to close in the third quarter of 2021. In the meantime, Kindred at Home will continue to operate as usual, and Kindred at Home patients will continue to receive the same, high quality care and services.
