ATLANTA, GA (November 11, 2020) - Kindred at Home, the nation’s largest provider of community care, personal home care, home health, palliative and hospice, honors those who have served and those who continue to serve our country.

“As we pause on this day to reflect, we honor the service, sacrifice and commitment of the men and women who have worn the uniform of the U.S. military,” said David Causby, president and CEO of Kindred at Home. “We are honored to provide home health, community care and hospice services to tens of thousands of veterans each year and understand the unique needs of this special population that has given so much.”

In-home health care services can allow veterans to age in place longer, remaining at home or safely returning home to be surrounded by friends and family in a comfortable setting while receiving the highest-quality, most compassionate home-based care possible. For eligible patients, services may be covered under Veterans Benefits, Medicare or other insurance.

Over 91% of Kindred at Home’s hospice locations participate in We Honor Veterans, a program pioneered by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to focus on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment.

68 of the company’s hospice locations have received a Level 4 or 5 certification from We Honor Veterans, the highest-level designation possible, representing best practices in veteran-centric care.

In addition to the We Honor Veterans program, Kindred at Home’s hospice teams:

  • Provide veteran-centric care, understanding the needs of the veteran based on deployment and combat experiences
  • Organize and stages pinning ceremonies to honor veterans
  • Engage specially trained veteran volunteers to help provide care for veterans in hospice
