ATLANTA, GA (September 26, 2019) – Kindred at Home today announced that the company’s collected food and monetary donations equivalent to more than 348,967 meals during their 15th annual food drive held during the month of August.
“The generosity and compassion of the communities we serve never ceases to amaze me. We have been committed to this food drive for fifteen years, and each year we are able to surpass our goals. We are honored to live among, work with and serve such giving people,” said David Causby, Chief Executive Officer of Kindred at Home. “We are equally proud of our Kindred at Home staff for their efforts to donate and collect food in addition to their everyday work of delivering superior care to our patients and their families.”
In August, employees of Kindred at Home at many of the organization’s nearly 800 locations nationwide placed food collection bags and bins in their offices and at supporting business locations in their communities. Throughout the month, employees collected the area residents’ non-perishable food and monetary donations from these locations. Once the local food drives concluded, Kindred at Home employees distributed the food and funds collected to designated local food banks and other charitable organizations.
Kindred Hospice in Temple, TX, for example, collected more than 31,000 pounds of food and raised more than $700, all of which was donated to Operation Phantom Support, a local organization that feeds a large community of disabled Veterans. The branch also collected 13,000 additional pounds of food for their “We Honor Veterans” program. This donation will be delivered after Labor Day to help local Veterans.
“Each year, our food drive gives an incredible boost to the organizations dedicated to serving those in need,” said Mr. Causby. “We are grateful to be able to help them put food on the table for thousands of people across the country. Our food drive brings out the best in people, and it shows how a healthcare provider can take the lead in helping to make a difference in the broader health of the communities it serves.”
Since the food drives began in 2005, more than 3.65 million pounds (1,825 tons) of food have been collected for local food banks and other charitable organizations in communities across the country by Kindred at Home.
