ATLANTA, GA (October 26, 2020) - Kindred at Home today announced that the company collected food and monetary donations equivalent to more than 1,000,000 meals during their 16th annual food drive held during the month of September.

This year’s Food Drive, which took place in September, looked different due to the coronavirus pandemic. To respect the safety and well-being of Kindred at Home’s employees, referral sources and communities, the company limited the drive to primarily an internal Food Fund Drive with online donations only.

To kick-off the Food Fund Drive, the company donated $50,000 to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization which includes a network of 200 food banks across the country. This donation alone provided more than 500,000 meals to those in need.

Employees of Kindred at Home held fundraising contests in their branch offices and collectively raised more than $48,000.

This year, the company’s contribution will go even further. The $50,000 corporate contribution was matched through the Tony Robbins 1 Billion Meals Challenge. The 1 Billion Meals Challenge aims to provide 100 million meals per year through 2025 to families struggling with hunger in the United States.

Collectively, the company’s donations plus this match from the challenge means that Kindred at Home was able to raise more than 1,480,000 meals.

“I’m so proud of our Kindred at Home Family. Our team shows we care in so many ways, in the work we do and the way we give back to our communities. We’ve been leading a food drive for sixteen years and it is more important than ever due to the coronavirus,” said David Causby, president and CEO. “According to Feeding America, nearly 9.5 million senior citizens could face hunger, and many are regularly faced with the difficult choice of buying food or paying for medical care. Ensuring that the most basic component of good health - food, is available for those in need is the right thing to do for a company like Kindred at Home.”
