ATLANTA, GA (October 26, 2020) - Dr. Mark Fox, FACP, FAAHPM, HMDC, Kindred at Home’s National Medical Director (Hospice Division), was selected to receive the James McFarland Award from the South Carolina chapter of the American College of Physicians. The award recognizes Dr. Fox for being both an outstanding clinician and teacher, and for representing the values of internal medicine. The award was presented during the Chapter’s Virtual Annual Meeting held on October 23, 2020.

As National Medical Director of the Hospice division, Dr. Fox is responsible for the medical care provided by the company’s physicians and care providers. He began his work in hospice in 1989 and has been with the company 5 years.

“I’m honored to be recognized by the South Carolina chapter of the American College of Physicians. I’m humbled to be able to care for patients and their families who are dealing with life-limiting illnesses. There is no more important job than ensuring their care and comfort,” said Dr. Fox.

Dr. Fox received a Bachelor of Science at the College of Charleston and his Doctorate in Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Virginia Affiliated Programs. His board certifications include Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization where he serves on the Palliative Care Council. Dr Fox is a member of The Carolina Center and End of Life Care and serves on the Board of Directors. He successfully completed the Hospice Medical Directors Certification Boards.
